How to 360 on Skis

Technical Riding Tips

Riding technical descents can be tricky. Rocks and roots are always trying to toss you off your bike. Places such as Bend offers a lot of technical riding. Spend a little time working on these sections, and you can master technical riding. Just be careful and be sure to wear proper protection.

Evaluate

Look at the feature or section of trail. Note any rocks, roots, or other obstacles that could challenge you or cause you trouble. Look for jumps and drops and be sure you will be able to gain enough speed to clear them.

Line Choice

Line choice is especially important when riding technical. Try to choose your line in advance to ensure the smoothest ride possible. Some things to consider are obstacles and speed. Choose a line with the least amount of obstacles for the easiest line. If you're concerned about speed for an upcoming jump, or are racing, then you're also going to want to select the most direct route. While not necessary the smoothest, it will save time.

Take it slow at first

There's no need to rush the first time through the section. I suggest going through the section slowly the first time, to learn the trail and the best line. After the first time, its much easier to ride the same section.

Session

Sessioning is the best way to get better at a certain aspect of mountain biking. Session the section of trail that is giving you the most difficulty, and soon enough, you will notice a ton of improvement.
