How to 360 on Skis

Getting bored of straight air over jumps? Try learning how to 360! Before getting started, be comfortable jumping and landing on skis.

Step 1: Preparation

Try practicing your rotation on the ground before trying it on a jump. On flat ground, compress your legs and pop. In the air, use your arm to twist your upper body. Then, twist your back and legs into the direction of your arm to begin rotating your skis. After comfortably being able to do a 180 on flat ground, start on small jumps. The process is the same, but you will have more time to rotate.

Step 2: Adjusting

If you aren't landing the 180 yet, it's probably due to rotation issues. If you sense yourself over-rotating, just try rotating more slowly. Another tip is to keep your eyes glued to the landing. This will help your lower body and skis land more smoothly. If you are under rotating, try working on rotations on flat ground again until you can fully rotate 180.

Step 3: Send It!

After you master the 180, you're ready for the 360! Find a jump you're already comfortable jumping on to practice this. Approach the jump as you usually would: feet shoulder-width, knees slightly bent, and at a good speed. Remember to pop! A common problem people have with 360s is that they focus too much on the rotation and forget to pop. After popping, twist like you would to do a 180, but instead of landing backwards, rotate all the way around.

Be safe and happy sending!
