Step 1: Understanding the Trick

A table top is a mountain biking trick that involves pushing the bike parallel to the ground while in mid-air. The key to a cool looking trick is keeping the bike level with the ground.

Step 2: Prepare

First, choose the jump you wish to learn the trick on - its often a good idea to practice on a small jump before gradually working your way up. Once you choose your jump, practice jumping it until you can clear it regularly with ease. For safety, wear a helmet (full helmet preferably), knee pads, and gloves.

Step 3: Approaching the jump

Approach the jump as you usually would. Once on the jump, compress your suspension and pop up to give you both height and distance.

Step 4: Performing the table top

Once in the air, you can begin the trick. Push both arms in the same direction so that your bike is level with the ground. Keep your eyes glued to the landing during this trick.

Step 5: Landing

As you reach the peak of your jump, begin pulling your bike back into you. Prepare both your bike and your body for the landing. Land as you would for any jump by adjusting your bike with the landing and using your legs to absorb the impact.

Step 6: Practice makes perfect!

Keep practicing. The more you practice the table top, the better and more stylish you'll get. Start small and work your way up. Good luck and happy riding!
