Bend: Where to bike your first time

If you've never been to Bend, Oregon before, the amount of trails can be overwhelming. Here you can find the best trails for each type of riding. Phil's Trail is a great area to get started, full of various trails. Its easy to access, and has many amenities, such as bathrooms and even a pump track right next to the parking lot.

Best Trail Network: Phil's Trail

Phil's Trail is a large network of trails, each of which are unique. In this one area, you can find a variety of flow and technical trails, making it ideal for those who prefer to ride multiple types of trails.

Best Technical Riding: Upper & Lower Grand Slam

Located south of Bend, Grand Slam features a fun, technical 320 foot descent. Full of rock gardens and wooden bridges, this will put your trail skills to the test. Upper Grand Slam is less technical and is rated a blue trail. Lower Grand Slam, however, is a challenging Black Diamond.

To access Grand Slam, you can either ride in through Storm King, Voodoo, or KGB. Storm King and KGB are easy flow trails, while Voodoo is more challenging.

Best Flow Trail: Whoops

If you are seeking an adrenaline boost, Whoops Trail is for you. This flow trail packs in jump after jump, connected by smooth berms and drops. This is also a great trail for kids learning to jump or riders learning a new trick as all the jumps are low consequence and easy to bypass.

Start by climbing Pine Drops to get to the top of Lower Whoops. From there, you can choose to descend or climb to Upper Whoops via the Upper Whoops Access Road.
