How to 360 on Skis

Post Canyon Family Man

Located in Hood River, Oregon, Post Canyon is one of the biggest trail networks in the Northwest., featuring a 3,400 foot descent from the top to the bottom. It has everything, from easy greens to giant jumps and drops on black diamond trails. It has extreme technical trails and mellow flow trails.

While there are many parking lots in the area, Family Man will give you the most access to all the trails. Right in the beginning there is an easy little pump track with small rollers and wood features, all of which are easy to bypass. From there, it opens up into many descending trails, and one uphill trail.

From Family Man, there are many different options if you wish to descent. You can take Float On, a windy flow trail that is known for its large berms. Similarly, Toilet Bowl is another flow trail in the area that features berms and smaller jumps. Middle school is a popular trail from Family Man. Featuring large Table Tops, Middle School is a short run, making it easy to lap over and over again. This gives it an ideal location for those trying to learn new tricks or master jumping. Finally, Drop Out is a black diamond, featuring large drops, gap jumps, and a large wooden wall ride. If you want to climb higher, you can take the climbing trail to Upper and Lower Grand Prix, a long descending trail with many steep sections.

Alternatively, you can park at the Seven Streams Staging Area to begin your journey with a climb along Flume Creek. From there, you can follow the climbing trail all the way to Family Man. From there, you can descend on all the trails listed above, or climb to Grand Prix. Or, you could climb about halfway up and take Kleeway, a fun blue trail that has many sweeping berms and great jumps.
