How to 360 on Skis

Using Technology to your Advantage

Technology doesn't have to be bad. Especially when paired with mountain biking. With the overwhelming number of apps and websites, its hard to find good, reliable ones that will suit your purposes. When mountain biking, its especially nice to have a good app or two to help you find trails or track your speeds.

What features should a MTB app have?

This would depend on your needs. For one person, it might just be a map and that's it. For another, it might be speed or elevation. It all depends on your preferences and needs. Most apps will have a map and distance. Some will have other information, such as amount of uphill or downhill.

Best apps

Trailforks

Trailforks is a great MTB app that has plenty of information. It will tell you trail information and location, making it easy and fun to find new trails. The app is easy to use and very informative. It tells you information such a as distance and elevation. It allows you to select one home area that you get for free. If you want access to everywhere, you can pay $2.99 per month for unlimited access.

MTB Project

This is like a free version of trailforks. This is great for tracking rides and route-planning. And it's completely free! However, this app will only show legal trails unlike trail forks.

Garmin Connect

This app is great for people who wear Garmin watches. The informative rich app will tell you mountain bike information about your ride, but also personal information. This includes heart rate, calories burned, and much more. The app is free, but its only useful if you have a Garmin watch.
