The Northwest offers 4 unique seasons, each with its own set of challenges and rewards. Being able to bike every season ensures riders will never get bored.
Spring:
As the snow begins to melt, the trails come alive with colorful wildflowers and rushing streams. Signs of wildlife begin to appear and trees begin to get their leaves. This is a perfect opportunity to explore the lower elevation trails and witness the beauty of spring.
Summer:
With the sun high in the sky, summer allows riders to ride at higher elevations. The usually snowy peaks clear for alpine trails featuring stunning views. Longer days mean more time for longer rides in the breathtaking landscapes.
Fall
As the leaves change color and the air turns crisp, fall presents a golden opportunity for mountain biking. The cooler temperatures make for more comfortable climbs, and the trails are covered with the warm tones of autumn foliage. However, be cautious as fallen leaves can be wet and slippery.
Winter
Even in the cold months of winter, mountain biking doesn't stop. If you watch the weather and find a dry weekend, biking is possible. Pants, long sleeves, and gloves are necessary items to keep warm and safe on your ride. Avoid riding during a freeze thaw. This occurs when the temperatures fluctuate. When there is moisture in the soil and it freezes, the dirt expands. When it thaws again, it leaves a sloppy mess. Not only does this ruin the trails but if you ride you will create ruts. These will freeze at night, leaving the trail more damaged.
